Do your thoughts like to run a million miles an hour, take 5 detours and you still not end up at your final destination? Sameeeee. So here I am proposing a tv remote for the mind because my brain needs an off switch.

For the girls out there who like to overthink every tiny moment of their existence, it’s time to stop. We waste away more of our life thinking about it, than actually living it and that is not how it should be. So let’s take a moment to think about thinking and get ready to step into a new day and the rest of the week with our endless brain spiraling thoughts either muted or on low volume.

My 3 top tips for helping quiet your internal monologue.

  1. Keep yourself busy. Your brain can’t focus on being busy and overthinking every little move you make. Try new hobbies, find new things to do and do more of the things you enjoy.
  1. Focus on the positive internal dialogue. It’s so easy to think all the conversations that happen in our heads are negative but when we take the time to actively listen in and hear the good and the bad we know it’s not. So let yourself tune into the good and it will help overpower the bad.
  1. Remember that it is all just thoughts and everyone has them. We all have thoughts about ourselves that we don’t like and find ourselves stuck in overthinking loops from time to time but they only cause problems when we give them power. So let them come in and let them go out, don’t give them the power to affect you.

Nothing can solve the problem of needing a physical mute button for my brain but those few things can help make it a little bit easier. And I promise if I ever find out the secret to quieting my internal monologue then you girls will be the first to know. But I also want you to know not all the thoughts in your head are bad and half of the uniqueness of us as the wonderful women we are is our thoughts.

If you want to hear a full breakdown of my journey with my internal monologue and the gradual process of lowering the volume then make sure you tune in to the complete episode on the It’s A Girl Thing podcast.

All my love,

CG xx
