Stop and Smell the Roses

Dear Bestie,

I see you. The way you show up day after day not knowing if things will change. Oh but they will. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or next week but the one thing I do know is they change. Life is full of emotions, adventures and memories to make and it is so easy for you to lean into the heartache of the season you’re in and not see the good in it. 

I like to live by this. Without sunshine we don’t know rain. Without sadness we don’t know joy. Even when the rain is pouring down the sun can still peek through the clouds, but it is up to us if we call it a sunny day or a rainy one. 

As another year starts to come to a close and you reminisce on what’s happened this year and what you’ve missed out on, don’t forget all the memories you did make. All the times you saw the sunshine and not the rain. For once don’t start planning ahead into the new year and just take a moment to live the rest of 2025 in the sun, not the rain. 

Don’t let yourself wish away the harder moments without first seeing what they have to offer. In every bad moment there is always a little bit of positivity to be found, but if you don’t look you’ll never see it. You woke up today, you are loved, you are unique and you are enough. You, my sweet girl, are the joy that so many people need in this world. But in order to be her, you’ve got to let yourself see the world through her eyes.

It doesn’t take a lot. Just, stop and smell the roses.
